no new notifications unless i visit the forum??

I am subscribed to several topics.
I just noticed that when I get an email about notification, it states "you will receive no new notifications until you visit the forum".
QUESTion - WHY limit my notifications, ? sometimes I can't get there for a week or so, and a prior notification might get buried in the email, but I do like to see what the replies are, even if I can't get to the forum....????

first of all we want to thank you for your engagement in our forum. We appreciate that very much.

I have checked the options but cannot find a setting to change this behaviour. Once there has been a new comment you get one e-mail, further comments will not be reported. In your profile you can select daily or weekly reports instead. Did not check if this includes all of the comments but I suppose so.

can you pass this issue back to the forum designers? the cutting off of notifications makes no sense, to me, In my humble opinion : - )
