Can you access backed-up files without Paragon Backup and Recovery software?

One of the key items I looking for in backup software is the ability to access individual backup files even if the Backup and Restore program (or the company) fails in the future. For example, if the program creates .zip files for backup, no special software is needed to access them. Looking at the files produced by the Paragon Backup and Recovery, this doesn’t seem possible. Is that correct, or is there a way to get at the backup files using Windows facilities alone?

It depends on the Format you're using to save the backup to. It can be changed in Backup Options.

If it's VHD/VHDX -- you can mount it using Windows utilities.
VMDK archives can be opened in VMware tools.
If it's PVHD, only Paragon solutions can open these files.
