Hello!

I have pulled out a Seagate 5TB desktop drive from my Seagate Personal Cloud NAS device after the storage shares disappeared from the network.

The drive isn't clicking, so I suspect the PCB has died, and I have put the HDD into my Windows machine, installed Paragon's ExtFS for Windows, and have sucessfully mounted the relevant partition.

However, accessing the drive is EXTREMELY slow. File copying speeds vary from 100 to 700kbps, but files DO copy OK.

A couple of Linux "experts" have said "it's probably the device driver making it slow" but I use HFS for Windows, APFS for Windows and NTFS for Mac, and the performance hits from those non-native drivers is negligible.

Is there something I am doing wrong, or is the hard drive actually dying?

Oh, I am within my trial period of ExtFS for Windows for another 7 days, so... tick tock!

Thanks!
