I am very happy about the latest upgrade. I have a portable disk drive with four ext 4 file systems. Which are irreplaceable. I really want to mount them read-only because I figure, they will less likely be damaged if by mistake, I disconnect the portable disk drive without un-mounting the file systems.
I wrote a script to mount them read-only but I had to run it each time I plugged in the portable disk drive.
The new version of extFS mounts them read only by default. The first time you have to check the box “mount in read-only mode”. After that extFS mounts them read-only.
This is a good thing because it reduces the chance of losing the file systems.
