Apparently you have an app blocking the backup process ; first step : restart the PC and immediately after proceed to backup

Do a clean boot, see if that works then add part of the apps back on. Might take some time to weed out the culprit.
Questions: 1)have you cleaned up your C drive from temp . files ? 2) give a list of programs installed on your machine ; 3) do you have another backup program installed ? 4) what are the services and programs running in the background ? ; the answer from wptski maybe a good idea but first cleaning your C drive is absolutely necessary ; I guess you work under Windows 10 . I also guess you have enough free space for backing up ..... No further idea for the moment beiing .
I restored a backup image from before this issue. The only change I made was uninstalling Kaspersky Anti-Virus.Then the same issue. I don't get it? Yes, I am running Win 10. Tried deleting temp files, & no other backup software on my machine. Will try again after the fall update. As for a list of software installed and processes running, sure.

Did you install the Windows 10 Fall Creator's Update? If so Defender Security Center offers new options in the 'Virus & threat protection settings' such as 'Controlled folder access'. If you turned that on, or some other new security setting, that might be what's causing the block. Just guessing ...
(Just read "will try after Fall Update ...." Guess that's not the problem)
