I want to exclude pagefile.sys, hiberfil.sys, and swapfile.sys from my backups. So I created a new exclusion category called "Swap Files", and then created 3 filters, entering the full name (i.e., not a mask) of each file. I did not use any directory path; only file names. The box was checked to make the exclusion active. I then did a backup, and the files were included in the backup anyway. Fail!
What am I missing here?
FWIW, I also tried to enter the file names by opening the file manager window, but it doesn't display any of the files in the root (only folders), although it appears to display every non-root file in the system. I assume that this is a bug.
This article from the Knowledge Base indicates that these "OS Auxilliary Files" must appear in the backup, irrespective of the settings: https://kb.paragon-software.com/article/208
This would be fine if they were included at 0 bytes, as indicated in the Knowledge Base article. But they are being included at full size !
