ftp destination in non-legacy mode not available???

I BU images in Hard Disk Manager to VHDX format. I want to use ftp to send to my BU destination. ftp is not available option. ftp seems to only be available for "Legacy" commands not the newer commands, including VHDX. Am I doing something wrong? Why would ftp not be available for all BUs?
