VSS Error after creators update - Unable to FindFirstFile.

    Using Hard Disk Manager 15 - 10.1.25.813

I have previously been able to create system-images without problems.

However, after updating Win10 to Creators-Edition, I now get the following error in the Event Viewer, and the job doesn't run

    --
Source: CAPI2 Level: Error, EventID: 513

Cryptographic Services failed while processing the OnIdentity() call in the System Writer Object.

    Details:
    TraverseDir : Unable to FindFirstFile.

    System Error:
The system cannot find the path specified.
    .

    --

I have also tried the tools on a second machine (recently updated to Win10-Creators) with the same issue.

Any ideas ? (Or and additional diagnostic-information I can provide)

    --

Out of interest, using Win10's own tools, the backup runs fine.
    wbadmin start backup -backuptarget:e: -include:c:

Are you trying to create an image manually or from a script?

This was a simple manual backup

    1 - Backup to VD
2 - Select entire Solid-state drive (my machine has 1xSSD and 1x 2Tb SATA Drive)
    3 - Choose "Back up Now" ...
4 - Then, Click "Apply" to start the process off..

Note: my next "attempt" is going to be to try the same job with VSS (Hot-Processing) off, but they requires me to allow the PC to reboot and I'm in the middle of using it at the moment.

Just found the following in C:\Windows\Logs\Paragon Software\VssRequester

One added piece of information ...

Even if I disable the "Hot Processing" (and allow the Paragon HDM to restart the PC) the backup fails with the same (CAPI2, 513) EventLog entry.

Submit a a trouble ticket via your Paragon account unless you get an answer here or do that anyway in case you don't. Try a backup from the your Recovery flash drive or CD/DVD also. If that fails, they really have a problem.

I've just tried this (having created a fresh USB-Boot drive) and used it to successfully create images on both machines (1 laptop, 1 desktop).

So, this would suggest that the issue is limited to the VSS-call within the running creators-edition

There is? No new build available yet in my account. There's been a problem with HDM15S/B&R16, W10 v1607 and ADK v1607 when used with a NAS for over six months now. I think that's why there hasn't been a HDM16S yet and now this problem.

To be fair, the SP5 wasn't in my account either *before* I raised the support ticket.

Thus, based on the following text from the link above, I'm guessing that they are still running tests on SP5 before releasing the update to everyone.
    >>> From: https://www.paragon-software.com/lan...eators-update/
    >>> You will find the updated version in your personal MyParagon account as soon as it is available.
    >>> We will inform you via email from eservice@paragon-software.com once it comes out.

My guess is that if you opened a ticket and asked to try SP5, they'd let you try it ahead of the general release.
