Hi,

I wonder if someone could answer the following:

I am currently using Paragon Backup & Recovery 2012 free.

I have created a full disk backup image of my 'C' drive, by using the'Recovery Media CD'
Which has given me a total backup size of: 279 GB

I then decided to create a duplicate backup image, but by doing so from within Windows,
using the Paragon Backup & Restore application.
Which gave me a total backup size of: 97.1 GB

Now I am unsure why these two backups are so different in size?

When creating the backups I used exactly the same options;

  • Normal Compression
  • Skip Auxiliary Files
  • Image Split (disabled)

What I did notice was that the backup that was create while using the 'Recovery Media CD'
did split the image into various 2,087,042 KB files. (even though I had 'Image Split' Disabled)!

For some reason this has always happened when I create a backup from the 'Recovery Media CD'!?

The backup that was created from using the Paragon Backup & Restore application from within Windows
did not split the archive and just did one file.

So my question is why do the backups vary in size, and is the one create in Windows a full backup?
even though it is less than half the size of the one create using the 'Recovery Media CD'.

FYI,
I have tested the Archive Integrity of both backups and they report NO errors.

Any advise would be much appreciated.
