HDD to SSD using Orico Docking Station

Hi folks. New guy here. I just purchased an Orico Dual Bay HDD Dock and was hoping to transfer contents from the Seagate 250GB 5400RPM HDD (Toshiba Satellite C655D LapTop) to a SanDisk 240GB SSD using the clone option. Can't do it as the source disc is larger than the target. There is enough space on the SSD to handle the contents of the HDD twice over. So am wondering if this Paragon software might work for this task. I can put both the HDD abnd SSD in the dock and see them on my desk top. If I get this software from paragon can I perform the transfer through the desk top using the docking station? Hope I'm making myself clear. Thanks for any and all assistance.
