Hi! Enabling splitting does not impact reliability or ease of restore. It may improve performance, especially if you're using backup to network location. When using backup to network, large file transfer has more chances to break, unlike when using smaller files. Also it allows you to store your backups on file systems with very limited file size limit (such as FAT32).
