Will Paragon NTFS work accessing NETWORKED external drive or only directly connected?

I have a 10TB external that I am going to use to hold files while hooked up to an old machine. A real "server" hackjob on a shoestring budget, I know.

My other half uses Mac, I do Windows, so was going to partition the drive using exFAT, but saw that it's a possibility to use NTFS and would much rather. So far, everything I have read assumes the external drive is being plugged directly in to the Mac machine, but that's not the case in my situation. Does anyone know if Paragon NTFS is installed on the Mac if it will be able to access the Networked drive?
