Paragon NTFS for Mac destroys Spotlight on High Sierra

I was furious to discover that the last update of Paragon NTFS was the source of two grave problems on my mac:
* Time Machine stopped working. No backups could be made
* Spotlight was broken, Re-indexing was no longer possible

I event went through the bother of restoring the mac from an older backup, which changed nothing. I wasted a huge amount of time and energy to find out that Paragon NTFS was the culprit. Only after uninstalling it completely was the problem resolved.
