Hello
I just purchased Total Defrag 2009 within the past few weeks, since I have had such good experience with various versions of Partition Manager. I had previously used Diskeeper for fragmentation, but I had some problems with it (I think) fouling up part of a mail store for The Bat!, based upon feedback from other users of that email program. If you may recall, Diskeeper features "on the fly" defragmentation of all of one's hard drives.
I ran Total Defrag last evening for the first time, thinking I would let it run overnight. To my amazement, it required 10 hours (!!!) to defrag my C:\ drive, and the PC was, I believe, unavailable to me - there were strong warnings about stopping the defrag process. I was horrified at the huge time for "only" a 40 GB drive. However, I noticed that the defrag was much more thorough than the "on the fly" feature of Diskeeper in that the free space was consolidated! I was very impressed with that, even if it took a very long time.
I THINK that Total Defrag 2009 does allow "online" (does that mean while I am using the PC?) defragging of non-system drives, such as my larger HD (80 GB), which is divided up into several partitions.
I just wonder if my understanding of "online" means that I can defrag my non-system (non-windows XP installation) drive while using the PC. Can someone confirm that, please?
Have a great day, everyone. Be Peace. We need it so badly from all of us.
