I use paragon ntfs 6 (purchased version) with my macbook to read and write to external ntfs hard drives. I hoped to also use it later to read and write to windows using bootcamp once I set boot camp up. When I am using an external ntfs hard drive in osx, the computer frequently does not complete operations and forces a restart (crashes). I am also unable to eject these drives safely after they have been read or written to, if they fortunately do not cause a crash. I don't know if this relates to paragon ntfs software or another error. It occurs when I use usb 2.0 or firewire. I have attempted to turn off spotlight on these drives. It did not seem to work. Spotlight does not seem to remain permanently off each time I plug a drive in and out. The error still occurs when it is disabled. What can I do? Any ideas?
I get the error with two external hard drives. One is a maxtor onetouch which is partitioned, with one partition in the hfs+ mac format and the other as ntfs. The other external hard drive is a seagate and is unpartitioned in ntfs. Incidentally, the error has also occurred once when I have used a 1 gb flash drive formatted in the fat32 format. The error only occurred once, however, as opposed to the frequency of the ntfs disks.
