Creating image slows and stops

Whenever I use the WinPE HDM Pro 2008 Recovery CD and create a image it does not complete. I go through the steps and begin the image creating process and after some time it slows more and more and finally stops with a error, "Cannot write Data."
I have tried creating a image of the hard drive and just of the partition but it does the same thing.
