View Full Version : 10.5.3 Broke Paragon?

Hi all. I'm hoping someone out there can help me. I was using Paragon v.6.5.1 on Leopard 10.5.2 without a problem. No file corruption, able to select boot camp drives in Startup control panel, etc. Then I installed 10.5.3 (using the combo updater) and now I only have read access to my two NTFS volumes. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. I removed Paragon and installed MacFUSE and NTFS-3G and it lets me write to my drives, but the inability to select the drive in the Startup control panel is a deal-breaker for me. The NTFSforMacOSX control panel isn't showing any available NTFS partitions in the list. Any words of wisdom from anyone? Thanks in advance!

My setup:
2008 Mac Pro 8 core 3Ghz with 6GB RAM. Apple RAID card with 4 750GB drives in RAID 5 configuration. Using an iPass connector plugged into the logic board slot through the back plane, I have 2 750GB external drives via eSATA that show up as internal drives to the computer. These 2 are my boot camp drives. One drive is WinXP and one is Vista. When I first installed Paragon under 10.5.2 I could write to both, but after 10.5.3 I can't write to either.

Contact support. I'm using 6.5.1 with 10.5.3 without any apparent issues - it seems to be doing exactly what it's supposed to.

Jeff,

I'm having the same exact issue as you are, same machine. I upgraded to Leopard, and then ran the update to 10.5.3 (didn't check NTFS permissions along the way) So I'm not sure where things broke. Anyhow, it's really frustrating. If you hear anything as to how to fix, please post back. I see there is an update (6.5.1) so I'll try running that later today and let you know if it works...

Thanks

Dave

I have been having sporadic problems with 6.5.1 and it would sometimes work and sometimes not, but I have since downloaded the update which was posted here and so far so good. I can copy over large files without too much hassle. I did however have to format the drive once again as it corrupted the files on the drive. I have a backup on the main drive, so this was not so much an issue. But it seems to be able to copy large files without giving me the dreaded error code -36 it was giving me. Not sure about it when you are using it to see other partitions formatted on an Intel Mac. :D
