I use Partition Manager for one thing only - disaster recovery. So it's important to me that when the Recovery CD boots up it recognizes the disk controller and the hard drive(s) attached to it so I can perform a full restore of a partition. Unfortunately, sometimes the Recovery CD boots up and there are no drives in the list. For some reason the controller or the drives aren't being "seen" by the software. The type of controllers this happens with the most often are SATA and SAS.

Does anyone have any tips for how to make the Paragon Partition Manager Recovery CD recognize certain controllers and their attached hard drives?

Is there a way to add additional controller drivers to the Recovery CD?

Does Paragon have a list of certain types controllers their software won't work with?

I'm currently using Partition Manager v8.5 Enterprise Server Edition.

Hi lkomorow,

first of all upgrade to version 9.0 of PM and it should be free of charge for you if the software was purchased.
Check if new RCD is better in detection. Then, for purchased version of ESE WinPE based Recovery CD comes that allows browsing for drivers of certain controllers.
And as a final solution - Bart PE, but I don't remember if Windows version of PM8.5ESE has restore feature.

Thanks for your reply AMS,

I checked my account for upgrades and I didn't see PM 9.0 available for download so it looks I will have to pay big to upgrade. I'm already using the latest 8.5 RCD bit maybe there is a way to get the 9.0 version for free?

Where can I get the WinPE based Recovery CD? or is that something I can create myself?

I have the BartPE software. Does Paragon have any intructions on how to use it with RCD that you could send me a link to?

Hi lkomorow,

I think that Paragon does not take money for asking if upgrade is available or not. :D
Contact support team via support request form and provide your purchase details. I think they could provide you either entire product as upgrade or its Recovery CD part as a solution. But this is only if product was purchased, they highlight it.
