Hi -- I'm running Paragon Hard Disk Manager 8.0 Special Edition. It is the first backup program I have ever used. I got it from a DVD that was attached to one of the popular tech magazines.
So far, I have managed to be able to use it to make backups without too much trouble. But yesterday, I wanted to make a Recovery Disk, but found I couldn't do it with the Recovery Media Builder that came with the program. For some reason, it wouldn't write the ISO that came with the program to a DVD +RW in my drive. The program faulted and canceled the procedure.
I managed to create the Recovery DVD with Roxio, and it booted up nicely. Then came the second surprise -- the software in the bootcd ISO doesn't see USB drives, and guess where I have my backups stored?
So, my point is, what's the use of "recovery media" that doesn't understand USB?
I guess I will have to make a bootable Windows XP disk after all. :(
ETA: Looking around the forum, I see quite a few other users have had the same surprises as I have. Nothing new under the sun, I guess. :)
