I have PDM 8.5 and did a defrag of the C drive. After it was done, when I rebooted, the registry was like it would be on a new installation (most programs went to default options, the quick launch back was back to the windows default, the desktop went back to the windows default, and things like that). I did a recovery in safe mode to a registry snapshot of a few days before and everything is back to normal.
In the future, what do I need to do so that defrag does not mess up the registry? Do I have to back up the registry before every defrag and then restore it after? Is this a bug?
I have a snapshot of the registry after the defrag (took one just in case the restore of the one from a few days ago messed things up) so that I can send you both if any one needs them to analyze the problem.
