My ASUS A8V Deluxe MB's SATA drives can only be accessed through it's RAID controllers even though I only run only 1 drive off each of the 2 controllers. Obviously when I install Windows XP SP2 I have to F8 to add the drivers for the Via and Promise drivers.
So with Drive Backup to create a Recovery CD that can boot, and see my drive with the backup image and my system drive to restore it to, I assume the default will not see them. Is that correct? How much mucky-muck do I have to go through to build a RCD that could or even can I?
Thanks

Hello ClickCardo, you have three options:
* Linux based Recovery CD that comes with Drive Backup
* WinPE based Recovery CD, it comes with Professional and Server editions. My experience says it works in those situations where Linux RCD doesn't work
* building your custom boot CD. You just take BartPE Builder (http://nu2.nu/pebuilder/), add there Drive Backup's plugin and files, put specific drivers, and it generates bootable CD. Plugin will be available as separate download among product updates

Thanks for the info.
I installed the Pro trial. Made the Recovery CD. Did a full disk backup of my multi-os, multi-partition, HDD with the wizard. I then did a complete disk restore using the RCD and was pleasantly rewarded by having my full HDD restored and all os'es fully functional.
I'm still not completely sold yet because:
1. For my setup I cannot even seem to use the limited differential backup.
2. For now there is no incremental backup and my expectations are low it will also be of no use for my setup.
I do not see the utility of making only full complete disk backups every time I change my system and thus need an updated image.
Based on your questions, you might want to contact the s people. They work closely with support and answered all my questions throughly before I purchased the software.
You'll have to set up an account, but that's easy. Then ask and wait. Replies typically take about 3 to 4 days maximum.
