I purchased Paragon Drive Backup Professional Edition 8.51. I have a backup of my old XP machine on 11 bootable DVDs and I am trying to restore it on a new machine. The new pc does boot from the first disk and the Paragon environment is shown. The restore wizard does not start by itself, so I start it myself. It asks for each disk one by one and writes the backup filenames on the screen. HOWEVER, the disks are ready very quickly (1 min each) which means that they are not actually read. At the end nothing happens! Am I missing something? Your help will be appreciated.

Create full Recovery CD based on Linux and boot from it to new PC. Then as Drive Backup is loaded eject the boot CD and insert the first DVD with backup image on it. Perform restore and point to the archive located on DVD.
Also, if you have difference in hardware then there not much use in restoring this archive. System will not boot because of the drivers lack.

ams, thanks for the reply!

Does the backup procedure also save the boot sector info? And, if so, does the restore procedure restore the boot sector?

I used the recovery CD to restore my system, but it doesn't boot.

thanks

Restore under Recovery CD and right after restore apply Update MBR to the HDD where you did restore. Try to boot into Windows.
Actually when you perform Backup in Windows mode of Drive Backup then there is an option to include to backup boot sector and MBR. And restore process restores the files you've taken backup of. Did you include First Track and MBR to your backup?
