I just installed Hard Disk Manager for a specific reason described below and soon found a problem. I submitted the issue to Paragon support. They had no solution at this time. I am hoping that someone in this forum might have a suggestion. My exchange with Paragon is as follows:

I just purchased and installed the Hard Disk Manager 2008 Suite and created a Bootable Recovery CD. I am running Windows XP Home on a MacBook Pro using Bootcamp. I am not able to partition the hard disk in any way as it is a GPT formatted disk. I have an external usb 500 Gig drive that I can partition. My main reason for purchasing the Hard Disk Manager was for backup and recovery. I may need to initialize the internal drive to upgrade the Mac OS. My problem, however, is this. After creating the Bootable Recovery CD, I attempted to boot from it for test purposes. It booted just fine and loaded the disk manager, which showed the internal GPT disk and the external usb drive, but neither my keyboard or my mouse worked. I also have a usb wireless keyboard and mouse which were not recognized. How do I get any of these to work? I would assume I need to install Linux drivers for them. Where do I obtain them and install them to the Bootable Recovery CD?

This was their response:

Thank you for your interest in our software!
At present Paragon products do not support the HFS - filesystems family, and GPT and APT partition schemes, which Mac is using by default. Unfortunately there is not possibility to add the drivers to a Linux-based Recovery CD.
So, sorry to say, at present Hard Disk Manager is incompatible with Mac computers. However, we are planning on implementing support this year.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

This was my reply to them:

Thank you for your response. I'm not concerned about support for GPT or compatibility with Mac at this time. I just want to be able to see a keyboard and hopefully a mouse from Linux. I can't believe that this is not possible. I will research it more myself, but I was hoping you would have a simple solution. I have other options such as Windows PE, but yours seemed to be the most straight forward approach.

I have used Partition Manager extensively on other systems and am impressed with its capabilities. But I am not pleased with having spent the money for your Hard Disk Manager only to find that it will not work for my situation. Could you please look into this further, and maybe check with other support personnel in your firm? Again, all I need minimally is to use a keyboard from the Linux-based Recovery CD.

Hello jimormsbee,

looks like you should wait, when Paragon will constract their Recovery CDs on a new version of Linux, where necessary drivers are built in by default. Or, as you said, you can use BartPE or WinPE based Recovery CDs.
