I have a Laptop computer. Can I CLONE the C: drive to a drive mounted in a USB enclosure? I have an 80G drive in my Laptop. I want to make a CLONE of the 80G drive using a drive mounted in a USB drive enclosure.

I want to be able to remove the CLONED drive from the USB enclosure and replace the C: drive. Turn the computer on and continue from where I left off.

The reason I want to do this is so I can have an COMPLETE BACKUP of my system. If the C: drive fails, do to hardware or a virus, all I have to do is pop this drive in my computer and go. I would copy/CLONE the drive weekly or when ever I install a program. This would NOT be my main back up. Just part of my back up plan.

1. Can I do this with your program?
2. Is it more involved that I described?

Thank you in advance-Fred

Hello Imhof714,

this task can be applied. Even more, I can recommend you to use Drive Backup. using it you will be able to have not only one copy of your HDD/partition, but several copies, which can be used to return (restore) your system to various periods of time (when backups were taken).

True, Thanks you for your response.

What I want is a CLONE of my existing hard drive. If the drive fails or a virus makes my computer unusable, I would take this CLONE drive install it in my computer and continue working (1 hour task at most). I have a laptop so I will have to use the USB connection to CLONE my drive. This will not be my main backup method. I still backup my data on a daily basis. This just gives me the ability to get up and running in a very short period of time. I will NOT have to spend days reinstalling software.

Do you have an Incremental copy/CLONE?

Thanks, Fred

As far as I know, Incremental copy for the whole HDD works on all 8.5 and 9.0 versions of Paragon products. I checked it on Partition Manager 9.0 few weeks ago. Second and furher HDD copy tasks were applied much more faster than the first copy. Tried to boot from the copy and it worked (of course, it was done only for test purposes, my main HDD was OK this time, I just unplugged it for test).

Bets regards,

True, Thank you for the information. I have a drive on order and will try within the next few days. This is a very powerful feature, you would think Paragon would promote the idea. Thanks again for the follow up. -- Fred
